A Mission Trip to Costa Rica

What a whirl-wind of a year this has been so far...my very dear friend Noma passed away in January. My dad passed away in April, my husband had a major surgery in May, my cousin committed suicide in June and we just got home from a mission trip to Costa Rica, Central America. WOW - what a crazy start to our year! I haven't blogged in FOREVER...mainly because I was so busy with taking care of my dad before he died. My son is scheduled to get married in August so that will keep me busy for the remainder of the summer I bet. :) We were blessed to have many supporters send us to Costa Rica. God knew what He was doing by putting us on that trip...He revealed several things to us that, with His help, we will work on. It was a great mix of fun and ministry opportunities. The ministry we went to help was completing a house for a pastor whose current house is not built very well and gets bats in it...yikes! We fed the homeless with 45lbs of rice and 115 hot dogs...nothing was left

On a mission to help & bless others...

We spent last week on a mission trip in Cartagena, Colombia. Talk about challenges...boy did we have some. For times sake...I'm just going to give an overview of our challenges and share a few pics: 1) airline said they wouldn't charge our group baggage fees...they did anyway. $25 for 1 bag & $60 for 2 bags x 50 people = mucho grande. 2) airline had to hold the plane because them deciding to charge us held up our group quite a bit which resulted in the plane needing to wait 10 extra minutes for us all to board. 3) already said 10 minute late plane taking off discovered "AFTER" we got on board that they had a water distribution problem on said plane...this resulted in a service guy and him NOT being able to fix the problem which delayed us 1 hour and 10 minutes. ***A praise = 4) delayed flight caused us to get to our next connection within 20 min of take off. Plane was suppose to dock in terminal B and we would have had to deboard and trek to terminal C whic

Mission Trip to Trinidad 6/30-7/6/07

We were blessed to be able to go on another mission trip with JOY FM the Christian radio station in St. Louis again this year. Larry, Heather and I went to Trinidad (Michael went to Mexico in June). Trinidad is 7 miles north of Venezuela and is considered a Caribbean Island. Their primary religions there are Muslim, Hindu and Christian. There were 50 of us who went and Heather found her long lost sister - Hadassah in Trinidad. It's a place I would love to go back to...the people are so lost! I have never seen an "idol god" before...wow - this island has some MAJOR darkness! We ministered to so many different people and kids...Larry was sick most of the time from the dust and mold in the stage that our team replaced but he made it through.

We're BACK!!! Mission Trip to Mexico

WOW - What a week!!! Our God is SO Good!!! We had GREAT weather all week too!!! At the last minute, H and I were invited to go FREE of charge, except our evening meals and God even provided those for us...H and I got to go on this trip with our family for FREE!!! I knew...it was Gods plan! We had wanted to go all along but couldn't afford for all of us to go...I had said since July that if God wanted us there...he'd provide a way for us to be there...God is SO good!!! We started out the week leaving the day after Christmas on a tour bus for a 22 hour ride to Brownsville, Tx. We DID eventually arrive! Thank you Lord!!! We were looking so forward to being able to see our Mexican friends again...H was excited to see Esli again and as you see...their friendship has continued! We did a prayer walk after we arrived on Wednesday the 27th heading over to the clinic that we helped to build when we were there in July...it was GREAT to see the progress that had been made on it
