A Homeschool Rally

Image
There was an urgent call for the homeschool families to come to the steps of the Jefferson City, MO capital on Thursday, May 14. I haven't been to a "rally" before so I prayed about it and felt that Heather and I needed to head to Jeff City...at 10:30am we were on our way. We were so excited to be blessed with a parking spot RIGHT in front of the capital at 12:55...just in time for the 1pm rally. It was the coolest thing to open in prayer on the capital steps. There were over 2000 in attendance. Thanks to Kerry Messer things got straightened out and some positive changes took place for us homeschoolers. They requested that we take a lap around the 3rd floor of the capital...that was fun. What a blessing and a "surprise" for Heather to run into many of her good friends while she was there...

Mother's Day ( a day late :-)

Image
I woke up to a WONDERFUL mothers day - breakfast in bed, flowers, a jewelry box, stepping stone, a necklace, cards and an Applebees gift card...the best gift was spending the morning with my wonderful kids!!! Michael came to church and went to lunch with us - we had a very good time! It was rough celebrating this mothers day without my momma but we stopped by and placed flowers on her grave. On the 27th of this month she will be gone a year. I miss her!!! Since my moms death, I've been trying to determine "WHAT" my purpose in this world/life is all about. I think I've finally figured it out, I always wanted us to "go" and be missionaries but I feel like the Lord is teaching me that my "children" are my mission field. They are my gifts from God, if we minister to the world but our children go to hell, what does it profit us? I have been asking the Lord alot lately to change me and help me to be a better mom. My relationship with my daughter...

Being a Mom...

I struggle so much with being a mom...when I grew up kids weren't appreciated, they held no value, no one expressed that Children were "gifts" from God as the Bible says they are. I feel for the last 9 years it's been a sort of push and pull kind of thing that I've now submitted to in a kicking and screaming {almost} motherly kind of way. Each day that goes by, I realize is another day that's past that I will not get back but somehow, I can't seem to break/get out of this continual cycle of just "going through the motions" in being a mother & homeschool mom. I have friends who are just AWESOME moms and AWESOME homeschool moms and I feel as if I'm falling SO short. I know I'm not the worst mom in the world but I know I'm not the best mom in the world either and I beg God every day to make me better at being a mom. If you look at us...you'd think we would have a great relationship...but it seems my daughter and I bunt heads alm...

Pujols 5...EXCELLENT!!!

I clickety, clicked over to here and saw a SLEW of places to choose from...since our nephew works at Pujols 5 and my husband has been wanting to go there, I purchased 4 $25 certificates for a total for $8. I've given 3 of them away as gifts but saved one for us to use...boy am I glad!!! We went tonight and walked right in, they have a lovely place. Larry got a rack of ribs and a soda (the ribs came with a small Caesar salad, fries and coleslaw) I got an 8 oz. Filet Minion and an Arnold Palmer (1/2 tea, 1/2 lemonade) (my Filet came with mashed potatoes, greenbeans & French Onion soup) the biscuits were TOTALLY AWESOME. We both had an EXCELLENT meal and thoroughly enjoyed each others company and our food. With the $25 gift card off of our meal, and tax & tip we pa...
