Galatians 5:22-23 And the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness and self control.
Having Self control does not mean you can never do anything you want to do, that is not true. It does mean that you cannot eat everything you want to eat for the rest of your life, you can not buy everything you want, you can't say anything you want, think anything you want or do anything you want all the time. Self control is about balance. Stop trying to control all our circumstances, give up trying to control anything else but yourself. You have the fruit of self control in you but you have to use it. The fruit of the spirit starts with Love and love is patient, kind, humble. If I don't have self-control everything else collapses. When you manage self-control you are in control being led by the Holy Spirit. Self control delays gratification. Romans 5:18 adams sin loosed sin on everyone born after that, but Jesus Christ leads to life for all men, by mans lack of self control sin came to all men. Jesus's self control led to life. There are certain things most of us would never do but there are certain sins that have become acceptable in the body of Christ like pride (God hates pride), gossip, jealousy. Acts 24:24-25 felix was fine when paul was talking to him about faith but got nervous when paul talked about getting the sin out of your life, etc. There's so much luke warmness in the church because people don't want any restraints on their life. Even modern preaching has been watered down. If you listen, it will be hard but you will grow up. If you are going to a church that doesn't make you uncomfortable you might ought to rethink some things. 2 Peter 1:5 -7 add diligence to the divine providence, and in exercising self control you develop patience, etc. And you eventually get around to God's promise of Christian love.

Proverbs 25:28
28 Like a city whose walls are broken through
is a person who lacks self-control.
